I wasn't sure about this one (too dark, too little colour) but what the heck, here it is anyway:

Yeah, maybe. But when designing a logo you clearly have to look at the image that the client wishes to portray. The only metaphor for the second design I can think of is the "darker" of the Batman movies. He still beat up the baddies, but his image had changed, his soul was no longer white and pure. I too prefer the second design, but I think the first is more Microsoft (however dark and evil some people may consider their empire! LOL).

Maybe it is time to revisit the logo challenge?

Nah - I'm tired of being a loser. Political correctness is better, where everybody wins, even those that didn't turn up
