I really like your resultant logo. It suits the Google streets idea very well. I don't have any idea about what the original was unless it had to do with airplanes.
Edit: Oh wait, would that be a Honda logo?

Lexus is the closest yet, but you'd need 2 Lexus logos to make the one I made. Forget Japan and travel West, beyond China and think again.
