    Default Input Forms

    Hi Folks,
XWD looks to be really great, but before I can launch into redesigning my websites from FP, I need to know if there is a work round to collect user input from a web page Form, or am I asking a bit much?
    Any advice g r e a t l y appreciated.

    'Placeholders' are your friend

Unfortunately, Placeholder is not my friend.

I've tried to put a simple input form (name/email) generated by Aweber, and working on another site and, although the text and boxes appear, the input boxes are not active/working, therefore, no way to input the info. Also the submit button is not active.

    See: http://www.RCLB.com/test.html

I tested the code that I inserted (http://www.RCLB.com/form.html) and it works on a page by itself. But not when plugged into an xwd page.

I also tried "cheating" it by first exporting the page and then inserting the form code. Even tried moving it around. None of this worked.

You really need to handle input forms. They are crucial to squeeze pages and other opt in pages. This should be a part of the software in a much more elegant format.

I'm willing to use the Placeholder method as long as it works. But it doesn't.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a work around?

Carl please check that your form placeholder is on the uppermost layer.
It appears to me as if something is over it.

If unsure, please attached your .web file for us to check

Yes, it looks you have placed the frame object (http://www.rclb.com/test_html_files/32.png) on top of your placeholder. It is a bitmap with transparency. So despite you see what's underneath, you can't access it.
Jus move your placeholder on top (Ctrl+F) and it shall work just fine.

Yes, that worked. Thanks for the quick reply/solution.

Since the text appears through the transparent box around it, it seemed to be ok. It's a subtle point that the form code should be on top. Might want to mention that in the docs.

One more thing to note: when I put the rectangle in for the placeholder (just a black box) it increased in size on the page taking up way more room on the final page than in xwd. So, I reduced it to a small rectangle and that worked fine. This seems to be contrary to the instructions of making it the size of the replacement...might work ok for non-optin boxes but not for optin boxes, at least not the one I used.

Also, because of the way I had to position it I discovered that the small rectangle marked the UPPER LEFT CORNER of the optin box. That might also be worth mentioning in the docs.

I've changed the page to its final resting place which is different from the link above. If anyone needs to see it to understand the comments, they can now find it at:
