How to move/size background behind 3d Text

I'm creating 3D text with the 3D tool (Webstyle 4.0). I am trying to slip an image behind it. I have been able to do this. The issue is, the IMAGE SCALE and IMAGE POSITION controls are greyed out and I cant see how to activate them.

They indicate the exact functions I need (ie: scaling the background image, and centering it behind the newly created 3d logo) but I cannot figure how to get those controls to work!

Any ideas? I'm running out of them!
