Thread: Mouseover Lags

  1. #1

    Default Mouseover Lags

    Anyone else had this issue??

After my site ( www.scosc.net ) loads completely, three buttons for which I have a mouseover layer defined do not highlight immediately. Rather, there is a delay of a few seconds before the highlight happens.

Once again, (I know I'm being a pain) if anyone could try and see if this happens for them, I'd appreciate it.

    Boobear,

Did you fix your problem? I just visited your site, and the mouseover worked perfectly (using IE7, by the way).

No delay here either. There could be a delay if you were on a slow dial-up connection, but even then the rollOver buttons are only 2Kb's in size, which would represent a half second download time.

Of course these timings are very rule of thumb.

No noticable lag when I checked it out. It all loaded instantly and the mouseovers worked as expected.

    Hi Boo,

    No insult was taken.

I've been very busy, sorry I hadn't replied before now.

Your mouse overs respond immediately for me. Your site also loads almost instantaneously.

One thing I have noticed is the speed of a site loading is related to the speed of the processor in the computer I'm using. And to a lesser extent to the amount of RAM in the machine.

On my newest computer with dual core processor and 4GB RAM all sites load very fast.

On an older computer using the same internet connection pages load less quickly.

Well, I finally figured it all out..... Either I had a virus, or my OS/browser installation had somehow gotten corrupted. Rebuilt my laptop earlier today and now everything seems fine.

IE was doing funny things like keeping stuff in browser cache, even though I deleted all temporary internet files. I was loosing my mind because I'd make a change to a site, but it wouldn't "take".

Then my wife checked it on her laptop and voila! my changes were indeed "taking", just fine. (pounds head on desk)

    Thanks again
