Is a 100% zoomed view in the editor supposed to look like what it will look like in a browser? At 100% text looks distorted (in V5.1) but I can't remember if it was like this in V5.0.

You have the quality slider turned down to non-antialiased.

Weird, I never touch that as I have a fast machine. Does that change at all when exporting an image because that's the last thing I did?
Exported pages are unaffected by that control. If you houver over the slider, the pop-up text reads, "set view quality".

Curtis I think you may be mistaken about the export if it is not to an html page.
The first attachment is exported with view quality set at the default.
The second attachment is set at 3 (the center notch).

My source is at 'Xara Web Designer > Help > View quality slider':View quality slider
This slider (on the Standard control bar) affects how the document appears on the screen. It has no effect on the actual document or on printing.

Yes Curtis for a web page or site that is true.
I modified my previous post.
The view quality affects export direct to an image using the File Menu Export option and a file type of .gif, .jpg, or .png
