Order of Gallery Images loading ?

Notice how the images load. What would most likely be the explanation the order in which they load? In otherwords, if I wanted a sequence load, how would this be achieved?

The thumbnails load almost instantly for me so It's hard to see any sequence

For the sake of curiosity, do you have any idea what controls the order?

Stacking order, filename......?

Logic would suggest to me that the browser reads the htm from the top to the bottom and downloads from each link in sequence. However the size (in bytes) would be a factor in how quickly each image is downloaded and drawn to the screen.
There are code snippets you can add to the head that can delay display until all images are loaded, I think even Opera has a setting internally for this too (don't quote me on that, I haven't dug into opera's prefs or opera:config (entered in address bar) in a while)
