    Question Google Earth stuff

I'm totally new at this, so lots of handholding maybe be required, sorry.

I'm sot sure how to do any of these:

1- open a .kmz stored at the root of directory containing the index (assumes the user has GE installed) I assume there is a bread and butter [File Open] .... [/File Open] script which could point to file on your PC, network drive, FTP server, or othe location other than where the web index is stored.

2- use a widget, or whatever is available, to open the .kmz file mentioned above.

    3- Other methods?

    Examples would be appreciated.

    Have a look here John.
The API is now available as an installable plugin for Chrome.

Meanwhile, embedding GoogleMaps is quite simple.
Find your map and select the link option (top right) and "Paste HTML to embed in website"

    Hi Steve,

Well I think I set things up properly, the map appears but then I get an error. It mentions a line number, but everything wraps in the placeholder box.

I checked the settings in XWD, but all seemed in order.

May be there something with how my clip board copies or pastes the htm.

Could you do a test by entering the address shown in my .web file into Goggle Maps and cut and paste the Google HTML-link into placeholder to see if it works for you? Any leads would be appreciated.

John it's likely due to the ActiveX warning popup that is generated by IE (not other browsers).
Possibly seen in preview mode due to WD's internal lite version of IE's rendering engine not handling the script.

Your .web file exports and views fine here.

I think you nailed it. My published version does work.

    Thanks!

I get that same error message on each page John.

Do you still get the error if you publish the page to a server?

Gary it only occurs when previewed in WD, the script error doesn't happen when the files are published online or exported to the HDD.
As John said "My published version works too."

Are you seeing the error when exported to the HDD?
