    Default Creating Stretch Text Box

OK, I've read the other posts a number of times about creating stretchy buttons and boxes so I thought I would give it a try, but haven't had much luck.

As I understand it, you need to create the stretchy object in Xtreme4.

    here's what I've done in Xtreme4.

    1. Created the text box (rectangle)
    1a. Named it panel

    2. Created text and placed it inside of text box
2a. Named it paneltext and also named it HTMLText

    3. Set the text box (panel) to repel text.

    4. Grouped them together.

    5. I've tried both copy/paste into Web Designer and also created a .web file from Xtreme4 and then opened it in Web Designer, but the box (panel) doesn't stretch when I change the text font size.

Any help you can give me will be greatly apprecitated.

Does this help?.....I believe that if you use a rectangle or ellipse for the button's background, you have to convert it to editable shape first.

Hi BQ, If it helps any further, there's section in my Name gallery tutorial that covers stretches (section 2.3.3 page 19 of the current tutorial version).

    Yah BQ,

I reread Chris' pg 19 yesterday to refresh myself.....It helped me alot. I'd recommend downloading and printing the PDF (if you like don't like reading from a monitor) and reading the entire document. Chris, I had to reread about the checkboxes a few times to figure what they were for ... hope I can remember it

If your are fimiliar with Xara, I'm speculating that Charles did a lot of preplanning when they created naming objects (as well as some of more subtle changes made to how tools, the Color line, etc., work over the last year or two)....Makes me think they had XWDesigner on the back-burner for a long time.
