    Default Web Designer-opening page

    Hi,
Just out of curiosity, why does designer open with mouse layers active to start?

    Hi Jim,

I'm just guessing as I do not know the official reason.

On a web page everything would be mouseoff when you access the website. Mouseover would be any active element that can respond to mouse enter and exit events. Those would be the active "layers" (elements) of any website by default behaviour of any standard web browser.

By active do you mean editable? The default should be that the bottom main MouseOff layer is visible, editable and the selected 'current' layer, so that all new objects are added to this layer.

We switch the 'editable' column on for the other layers in most of the templates to make it easier to edit these layers, because it means only one click to the 'eye' column check box, instead of two. There should be no downside to this, since when the layers are switched off (not visible) you can't select things on them anyway.

(Er Soft Groups is an exception to that because that does select objects on all layers, irrespective of whether they are visible or not)

    Hi,
Thanks for the immediate responses...I asked simply for my own knowledge, and the fact that I was used to Xtreme Pro where the default is layer1..and I started playing with the program before I realized what layer I was on...the mouse layers..so had to transfer all to new layer1..
