    Yes,

you are right, but many average-users do not know this and had taken the already designed templates and wondering why they now get a mail from a layer and why they have to pay for something...

They do not know for instance why they can use a clipart in Corel Draw and why they cannot use a graphic in NetObjects, for both programs they had payed something and they bought it...

You're completely right of course. Perhaps a thread (when XWD is released) about the creation & selling of templates could mention this.

That seems really odd. Color me naive, but when you get a license to use a template for a particular purpose it would seem that ALL content that comes with that template would be covered by the same license. If the included images are really encumbered, yeah, I could see how that would cause some real confusion. Maybe the EULA that comes with such templates needs to make that particularly clear. A fifty point font in bold face ought to do it.

Mike I believe until you downloaded the templates there were mockups only in the design gallery.

The templates follow the usual 'royalty free' type of stock photography license and other templates. I.e. you are free to use them for any purpose on private or commercial websites, and that includes all images as well. You can create commercial websites website for clients, and charge those clients of course.

But you would not be allowed to resell those templates for profit as part of a template pack or where the main product was the template.

Of course you are free to design your own templates and sell those under whatever terms you like, and we would encourage such things. Indeed, if this product is successful, there may be interesting commercial opportunities for designers to sell their own templates for use with this program.

There's a huge un-explored opportunity of Flash templates that now become possible thanks to the new Soft Group and picture replace technology.

As to a list of templates - the theory is that everyone should be able to see them all in the Designs Gallery. Only one working set is included in the trial version, but all of them become available when you purchase the product.
