It is possible No.9 but not simple.
I think that you should master the basics in [tweening] first.

Tweening in Xtreme does not allow changing of the shape.

To do the animation as you mentioned you would need to create each individual frame. You would need to manually draw each intermediate shape that would represent the transformation. The time duration of each frame would need to be adjusted so the change would look smooth.

I do not recall anyone making a tutorial for this type of animation. It would probably become the size of "War and Peace" manuscript.

You could have a circle of the same colour grow from inside the square as it moved across the page.

A slower version with different colours to show how it works.
The .xar file is attached to my previous post for examination of the properties.

Yep, that's what I had in mind Bill.

Is that thinking 'inside the square' ??

you could use a blend to create the interpolated steps between circle and square

I don't do flash - but without tweening the frames would be the same as such?

The left hand still image shows the start postion etc. The circle/square is made up of 5 shapes. The 4 segments are flipped inwards on the right side position so that the circle flaps are slowly removed from sight to reveal the square. This gives a smoother transition.

A single tween for each way (a total of 3 frames):
