    Default Modifying animated gif

I'm going to redesign a site with an animated gif created by others. When I import the gif into Xtreme Pro 4, I can't access the layers. The error message is "one or more layers are on invisible frames so can't be selected". The animation is the logo at the top of supportmatters.com. Is there any way to open up this animation so I can modify it?

    Thanks

The free program IrfanView can separate a gif animation file into individual frames. I never have had difficulties using Xara to edit them so I 'm sure it will help but I recommend it as a general purpose image viewer and more!

    See it here: http://www.irfanview.net/

DocRock if you start a new animation then import the gif file the frames will be accessible but they will still be invisible. You need to open the Frame Gallery and make the frames visible before you can make changes.

The frames will be gif images so you may need to create new frames to make your changes.

    DocRock,

Do as Soquili suggests. Save the animation to your local hard drive. Fire up Xara Xtreme Pro 4 and start a new animation (File > New > Animation). When the Animation document opens change the size of your document to 540pix x 200pix (Utilities > Options > Page Tab > Page Size: Custom, Width: 540pix, Height: 200pix, Landscape > Apply > OK). Next import the Animated GIF file you saved to your hard drive (File > Import). Once the import is complete you should have the 34 frames that make up the animation. From there you can make whatever changes are necessary.

    Good Luck,
    HayTay

Thanks Soquili and HayTay. How do I make the frames visible? There is nothing in the Help document on this.

    Hi DocRock,

Simply click on a frame and it will become the active frame and visible.
