    Default Extreme Newbie to Flash...

    Hi all :-)

I am brand new to Flash, and needing to learn it to embed some flash into a new website for a client. The thing is that they want something like the flash shown here: http://www.watersidebelize.com/ which looks to me to be more of a slide-show than flash. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find info to do this type of flash? Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Hi Coleen,

Flash is very good for slide shows as well as more animated animations.

The transistion between frames of a slide show is simply done by changing the transparency of one image from fully opaque to totally transparent. A second image has it's total transparency changed fully opaque.

Watch the Creating Flash Animations movie from the Help Menu > Movies to become familiar with how to setup animations.

The "Movie" will not play - I am directed to the web-site or to my DVD to try to view that tutorial...great - but I can't find it! Can you please tell me what file the tutorial is in on the DVD or what year the tutorial is located in? I have been looking through them and can't find it! Thanks for your help

Xtreme4 or Xtreme4 Pro you should find the installed movie in this folder:

    C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme Pro 4\HelpAndSupport\ENG\flash_cd.avi

    Or online here
Look under The Internet >> Flash Animations

Member Xhris also has a a short Flash tutorial available on YouTube

Thanks very much. Unfortunately when I go here: http://www.xara.com/us/products/xtre...emos/?tab=xara and click on the Flash Animation - it just sits there and trys to load the page - and the page never loads! And when I go to the DVD this is the menu that comes up:

WORKBOOKS THE OUTSIDER XARA XTREME MANUAL

    2008 TUTORIALS - 2007 TUTORIALS - 2006 TUTORIALS - 2005 TUTORIALS 2004 TUTORIALS - 2003 TUTORIALS - 2002 TUTORIALS - 2001 TUTORIALS 2000 TUTORIALS - 1999 TUTORIALS - 1998 TUTORIALS - 1997 TUTORIALS

So which year is it in? When I go to find it under files on my computer - this is the list of available files:

    F: XaraXone
    _Notes
    1997
    1998
    1999
    2000
    2001
    2002
    (Etc - through 2008)

So which year is the tutorial in? There is no file for HelpAndSupport on this disk is it on the installation disk instead of the tutorial disk?

I was able to find the tutorial I was looking for here though: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/109195...n_xara_xtreme/
but, it would be very nice to know where to go to find it and other tutorials on the dvd that came with my progam.

Thanks very much for everyone's help.

do you have javascript blocking - if so you need to allow both xara.com and xaraonline.com for the flash to load

to get the CD movies open the program and follow the menu path Bill gave

    help > movies

    on the top bar

they should have installed from the CD with the program.... ?

The online flash video doesn't loads for me either, the other I tried play fine though.

Colleen is talking about the 2nd CD that comes with the Program CD.

If you run the CD and open the :\Workbook\index\workbook.html you will find a complete list of contents, many flash tutorials are listed (some shown below)
