Lock object center and snap

I'd like to be able to move objects and snap the center axis to a guideline and be able to move it via a slider control.

Sheff what is it you want to move with the slider, the object or the center axis? I would assume the object but I could be wrong.

I want to move the object. If I am manipulating it over time it would make it much easier. Being able to manipulate the guideline over time would be pretty cool as well.
