Lock object center and snap

I'd like to be able to move objects and snap the center axis to a guideline and be able to move it via a slider control. This would be similar to manipulating a blend profile but I am only interested in a one step blend and not the beginning or end objects at all. This would make moving objects for animation much easier.

I'd also like to be able to lock the center axis. Sometimes I accidentally drag it off the object. Other times I drag it on purpose but it resets itself to center. The only way to remember where put it is to put down a couple guidelines.

Sheff what is it you want to move with the slider, the object or the center axis? I would assume the object but I could be wrong.

I want to move the object. If I am manipulating it over time it would make it much easier. Being able to manipulate the guideline over time would be pretty cool as well.
