I'd like to be able to look at thumbnails of my pages in a gallery and change their order therein.

Sheff you can already do this in Xtreme.

Just add your own folder of .xar files to the Clipart Gallery via the 'Disc Clipart' button..
Xtreme makes the index file automatically and shows thumbnails of your pages.
They can also be re-ordered by dragging them
You can update the folder to create a new index file at anytime.

I'm talking about a multi-page document and change the order of the pages.

While I'm glad you showed me this function, it's not exactly what I'm looking for. It is going to be rather handy though in the future.

Re ordering a multi-page .xar via a gallery thumbnail view wouldn't be something many would have thought about.
It's currently fairly simple to re order pages of a multi-page .xar however.
(right-click page : Move Page Up / Move Page Down)

I set a keyboard shortcut using the short cut utility. I use Alt+page down and up.

I reorder the pages of the newsletter because I layout the pages in double page spreads as folios for printing. After I export a pdf for the printers with commercial printing settings I export a second pdf with e-mail/electronic distibution settings. For the second pdf I remove the double page spreads and re- order the pages.

When re-ordering pages you have to zoom out to see the entire document. If you have a lot of pages you have zoom way out. Page gallery would show you the results of moving pages with hot keys without zooming out.
