Well done for first effort. We all need to keep up with practise, even skilled portrait artists and cartoonists would not like to loose their skills to complacency.

Could you describe your workflow when drawing your submission?

    Workflow? I think I can..

I used a photograph as my guide (always reading so not many choices.)

Then I made a series of ellipses sans lines and try to match the shade from te photo and shape of my photographed head. I did the same with the lips, chin and scalp.

It was the detail of eyelashes, nose and mouth I gave up on. Not quite skilled enough to do those, so I just traced them and used the shading (eyedropper) from the photo. The hair, well...I hadn't a clue so I just used lines.

I can see why you blend in with football crowds so easily John
Thanks for having a shot and I'm sure you'd need less than 20 years to improve your drawing techniques.

Do you have a graphics tablet?

    A shot! It's practically a photo

Yeah, I've got a Bamboo but I'm struggling with it. Thought it would be better than the mouse. Determined though

I used a bamboo for both my submissions. The second I also used a mouse.

With me, it's a matter of concentration and focus - things I'm also struggling with recently - but I'm sure the Tablet is the way ... liked your example in post #1

Practice and perseverance. Think I'll find some other model than myself for now though

Well, if that's a likeness, John, I'm surprised I didn't pick you out near Bill Shankly. You'd certainly stand out in a crowd.
    Saludos,
