Default Scribbly Text - fully editable

I'm not the world's biggest fan of Illustrator, but it does have features that Xara lacks. The Scribble Effect is one such feature that springs to mind.
Here is a mini tutorial for creating editable scribbly text that works with any font.
I cannot claim authorship of this, but as I've forgotten where I saw it, I'm unable to give a hat tip to the originator.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Bob the Scribble Effect has a lot to do with the text size. You can see from the top scribble using your setting and at 72pt it is very hard to read. What I did was to make the fill white and have 2pt coloured stroke and then make a copy of it and "place it in Front". Give the copied object no stroke and then change the fill through swatches and the hit the Graphic Style from the fist attempt. All what I am really saying is your tut is dependant on the text size!

There's obviously something I don't get, Peter. Attached are the results of following my tutorial at 36, 72 and 150 pt text size.
The one at 36 pt is understandably difficult to read, but the other two look pretty much as I would expect.
The one at 36pt looks fine when zoomed in in Illustrator, though.
Just when I thought I was getting the hang of Illustrator, too.
I attach an amended tutorial to reflect the type setting of 72 pt with the other settings used.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Got it Bob! yesterday I was doing the tut between phone calls and emailing work to print shop. Also I got a bit confused with the appearance panel instructions and remembered it changed in CS4 I'm still working from CS3
