    Makes no sense to me.
Disabling UAC makes no difference on any of my Vista machines in regards to the Print Screen function.
It also does not affect my Laptop (TOSHIBA) Fn key toggling.

Good you seem to have it sorted anyway.

    Chris,

Are you referring to saving a web site or a screen capture?

I can see the UAC preventing use of the browser's File > Save As for a website but not a Print Screen capture.

I've re enabled full UAC on my main PC to check again.
UAC does not prevent saving from any web browser, neither does it prevent right-click Save Target As... or Save Picture As...

There may be some additional 3rd party security software on Chris' PC which is closely tied to UAC and offers additional safety features not normally shipped with a standard Vista installation.

There's a handy UAC utility available here which enables 'Quiet mode' for those who want the additional protection but prefer to suppress the elevation prompts for administrators .

Sorry, the facility that works now is the bit within X2 where you go to File - Import - Screen Capture - Start.

I am pretty sure that I still have to Fn + Pnt Scn. I'll have a check later when I get home.

I'll have a look at that quiet mode too.

    Thanks again.

Chris the Pnt Scn normally captures the entire screen.

To capture only the active window you can use an Alt key and the Pnt Scn key. Is the Alt key possibly what you mean rather than the fn key.

I have an HP C610 laptop (yes it is an old one it works the same as a desktop computer. Pnt Scn to capture the entire screen and Alt+Pnt Scn to capture the active window.
