    Default 3D Heading Problem!

    Can someone try this please....

When I change to Accent Font, and chage the text from Xara, I get a Visual C++ Runtime error and your program quits! Happens on select other fonts as well.

Can anyone verify this as a bug in the program and not on my machine?

It seems it's a problem in the pogram, it happens on more than just Accent. If you want to reproduce this, simply go to the 3D Headings, change the text, and select a font, and then use the up and down arrows to change the font, it will crash very quickly. Tested under XP and Vista

    Hi Pjiv,

The only time the error occurs on my system is when I encounter a font that has known problems with some of it's characters. Sci-Fi logo font is one of those. I had to go almost through my entire 3000 fonts before the error happened.

Many free fonts are very good but there are some out there that have internal errors that can crash or lockup applications.

Well I don't have near that many fonts but it crashes on a lot of them. It's just the normal Vista font's loaded and some others that came with applications I installed. Thanks for testing this. How can I check my system for bad fonts?

There are basically two ways I know to find bad fonts.

    1. Encounter errors when trying to use the font.

    2. Use a font editor that highlights errors in font metrics.

Encountering errors is usually a hit or miss situation. You may use a font with some bad characters and not have an error occur for weeks, months, or even years.

Using a font editor is expensive and time consuming. I use a program called Font Lab. http://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/fontlab-studio/
