How can I move a text layer?

When I try to set up some text next to a graphic
I am having trouble moving the text anywhere! Is there some procedure I am forgetting?

Do you have your text on a seperate layer? If so, use the retangular selection tool ( marching ants) or the lasso....select your text and then you can move it anywhere you wish.

Hi Annie! Welcome to the forum!

The tool with the arrow works on vector text only.

I seldom use vector text....so if you have created text that is non vector...antialiased and de-selected it, the best way to move text around is to draw a rectangle around your text with the rectangular selection tool. Click inside the box and it selects your text only....then you can move it around.
