New Xara web site launched - September 25
TO coincide with the imminent launch of Xara X, Xara.com has undergone a complete redesign.
The new site is much more content-driven than before, offering lots of current information so each time you return, there will be something new to see.
Quite possibly - but don't try to calculate which year!
The delivery of Xara X has now reached farcical proportions, if they ever get it working properly (don't hold your breath) then it's likely to be close to Xmas. I'm convinced that if they've got the audacity to release it earlier then it will have more bugs than windows itself...
Greg.
I still have faith in Xara. I would like to personally think that the association with Corel set them back and now they are trying hard to play catch up.
V 2.0 still kicks butt for speed and pleasure of use. At least they are now supplying us with beta releases to knock around.
The bevel tool rocks!
I would be happy if I got a nice clean product by Xmas... (please don't let it be longer)

"Love me... Love my dog
> I would be happy if I got a nice clean product by Xmas...
Who's pulling who's chain here? I remember phrases like the quote above nearly a year ago. Ever since last Xmas it has been "just around the corner".
Ever heard the tale of the 'Boy who cried wolf'?
I believe it is becoming relevant
Stu.
Come on people, this is a bit harsh. Yes, many of you know that we've been working on this version since early last year and we hoped for an earlier release - but the only public release date we ever gave was September 2000. It is only October 21st now, we have made a beta available and this was updated yesterday to a fully functional beta.
Xara X is a major upgrade, there's practically no area of the code that remains untouched from CorelXARA 2. Apart from the new features it seemed a good time to overhaul some areas with a view to what must come in versions beyond Xara X. It's taking time and patience to stick it all back together again, but go play with the new beta - you'll hopefully find a major improvement in the stability and the brush and line stroking are great, though I say so myself!

You are absolutly right Kate.
Just one problem If I was a brand new user of xara,.....downloaded the trial which you said was going to be followed up with the real thing end of october, and you are not planing on that you just need to let people know..... I did some work with it based on that stated fact. you should think seriously about providing an extention to the trial or making your new beta's expire later because you are going to leave people like me in a lurch with no way to get to some of my work.
lets be resonable,
will
P.S. A true story about two brothers.
Two brothers came up with an invention for a product. They got into an argument over when the product should be released. One brother felt they needed more time to fine tune it.... and the other wanted to get on with production an marketing. They could not agree and it became such a problem that they split up.
Years went by and a friend of mine ran into one of the brothers. He asked him how he was doing and he said well... so,so.... " You know I just about have the product perfected and I'm ready to start selling it". "How about your Brother?" he asked. "Well he is filthy rich worth millions now, but you know he should never have sold that product, it wasnt ready."
The new beta expires on November 20th. You shouldn't read too much into that, it's simply a month on from the file date, same as the last beta. But I can confirm that we would always ensure that there is a current working version.

You Brits certainly maintain your cool in the face of harsh criticism! My hat (and my hair)is off to you!! Thanks for posting the updated beta.
A question though, I was playing around with the new beta and it looks like the default font can be changed from Times New Roman on this version by clicking on the font with nothing selected? Is this font change just for the document that's open or for all future documents as well?
