Default ...they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts...

    http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...sindesert2.jpg

Thinking about making a present out of this one for my parents. Also, made a website out of it. It is a picture of Christ walking in the desert with old testament scripture. At the site I explain the connection:

If you are not into Theology, just check out the art. My pencil drawing is there as well - but it looks as though Christ is wandering a frozen winterland in the black & white one. Picture made using pencil, blending stump, and digital painting in Corel.

    Peace be with you.

    I love it.
The only thing I might suggest is the shadow be lightened slightly so the staff and foot are not lost, the desert floor show more in the shadow, and the pebbles in the shadow darker thus making the shadow appear transparent. Really more contrast between the cast shadow and the desert texture.
I have tried to alter your image only to illustrate what I mean. I hope you don't mind. What I did isn't perfect by any means. Being a former illustrator I am awed by your work. It's the little details that make all the difference in the end. Of course if you want the foot and staff lost in the shadow that's fine too. My point is the shadow needs to feel transparent without being too light or too dark.
I'm glad to see you did not put the heavy outline on the outside edge of the shadow.
Hope I'm not being too critical. I'm just trying to help.
    Keep up the good work.

Great feedback Larry! Thanks for the attention and redo. It was very kind of you. Indeed the shadow is too dark on most monitors. On my monitor, which seems to be very bright, the shadow is not that dark and you can see the desert, feet, and staff clearly. But, on my monitor at work it is too dark.

Your touch up on the shadow looks great - I hope you leave that up so that I can study it at a later time. I can make the shadow lighter with ease because I did this piece in layers. I have that shadow in its own layer and can lighten merely by changing the opacity percentage. But there are aspects about how you did it that looks better... maybe the color of the sand that you put in.

    Thanks everybody.

    Horseman,

Your work "...they thirsted not..." is phenomenal. Would you be interested in being commissioned?

    thanks,

I am in awe of your abilities. This work is outstanding! Larry's lightening of the shadow looks perfect on my monitor.
