Help to do this....

Hi,
I have bought paint shop pro, i don't know the version but it is not the newest one, it is about a year old.
I am trying to recreate a few designs.
in the image i have attached are three examples of a grid or little squares effect, with alot of detail.
How is this done? To have an image with this kind of faded grid over it or behind it. Its looks great.
Also i was trying to get a nice silver color, similar to the gold color button in the image, kind of shiny.
All i can get is a dull grey. Also thanks for reading this far :-)

To be honest, you are probably better googling something like this, as there is not a huge amount of PSP traffic on this board, and you are asking for a fairly detailed reply. The link provided should give you a good start.
