    Default Xtreme & 3d

    Hi folks,
I've been checking out other posts since last night on this subject.
I have just downloaded the trial versions of Xtreme 4 and xara3d but the thing that gets me is this. If I want to make a certain part of an image 3d and spin, do I need to make it in X4 then export it to 3d?
Also, I'm having trouble finding out how to save it.
I made the banner below in photoshop CS3 and I was thinking of making the badge in the middle rotate or spin but when I get it to 3d in X4 I can't find out how to make it spin. (I also want the reflection to spin)

I'm not asking for anyone to do it for me (I want to do it myself ) but any guidance would be much appreciated.

"sorry if the image is a bit big"

    Hi

firstly - what actually spins is a vector shape - you put the image onto the vector shape afterwards as a texture - bit like making a frame spin and then hanging clothes on it to make it look like a person

you make the vector shape in xtreme using your image as a guide - then cut and paste the vector shape [not the image] into xara3D
then you can import your image into xara3D as a texture to 'clothe' the shape

not as complicated as it might sound once you get the idea clear

That's a really nice image Lanarkshire. I love the 3d technique.

As Steve said, it's not as complicated as it sounds. Once you understand the concept the actual work is simple.

Steve - The - "bit like making a frame spin and then hanging clothes on it to make it look like a person" - is a wonderful description.

Sorry guys, can't do it. I just don't seem to be able to grasp it. I don't know how to make the badge a vector then open it in 3d and it's doing my head in.

I know I'm not daft and it probably is easy. (I managed to work out photoshop so I'm not completely thick )

I think it's the bit many without a 3D or animation background fail to grasp upfront

you need to trace around the badge with the shape editor [or pen] tool to make a closed shape in the outline of the badge

    look at post #7 here:
    http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...=football+spin
in your case step 1 would be to import your badge image into xtreme

I think I might have the hang of it. Although I'll need to purchase it now to get rid of the demo behind it.
    Thanks guys.
