Default Re: SVG effects for Inkscape as a companion for Xara

The same filters without sharpness (to remove sharpness, change the two last numbers in the last Color matrix to 1 and 0 instead of 6 and -2) ; notice the transparency which is so interesting for use in Xara.

In the second one (Alpha fill) the Composite primitive is set to "out" and in the third one it's set to "in".

Just one little problem at the moment : these two latest filters which use a Convolve matrix primitive give their best results at 96 dpi only because some work remains to do to make this primitive resolution independent. However this kind of filter always works better with high resolution images and thus this isn't a true limitation ; import them at their original size in Inkscape, apply the filter and export at 96 dpi, then open the result in Xara and resize it.

    Enjoy !

    Default Illustrations and doc

Illustrations are here and the doc in french is coming ; see the filters by subsections under SVG Filters :

At the moment only the pictures are there in the English doc, waiting to the translation when I will have completely written the french texts :

...and there are also some novelties !

    Enjoy,

Thumbs up Re: SVG effects for Inkscape as a companion for Xara

Is there a "What's new" section somewhere?
Just wondering what actually changed from 0.46 to 0.47.

P.S. Ivan, just looked at Morphology and Protrusion filter sets! Stunning!

    Giovanni,

0.47 render engine for filters is much better and quicker even if not absolutely perfect again.

Yes indeed, also as Ivan wrote there is some good reading over here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/Inkscape .
Very interesting vector drawing features, if someone is missing something...

Default Don't forget simple effects !

First, if you use extensively filters you can accelerate the screen redrawing with the following settings :

    File/Inkscape Preferences/Tools/Selector/Per-object Selection Cue : None

Earlier in this thread I have shown lots of sophisticated image effects or complex textures. But many more simple effects may be very useful too.

In the pictures you will see in these floss manual subsections, these effects are applied to groups.

If you export your Inkscape document ad pdf you can rasterize all these effects and import the results in XTreme. But Inkscape exports also nice png's.

    Enjoy them !

The "Chewing gum" filter has got also some interesting settings that you can download on OpenClipart

And last but not least you can also download a lot of intermediate works grouped in one single file here :
