Well,
After about 6 communications back and forth, I finally got Flash 9.0 working by using an uninstall file they had me download from their website, and then installing 9.0. After that, I had to reboot. So far so good. Everything seems to be working now.
Man, I wish there was a way to use swf files for our avatars.
