Worked great for me in irfanview. I did not see any missing colors.
Very nice work indeed. Wish I could do something like that. Been thinking about doing something similar but as it is I'm clueless, I guess things like that are still over my head.

Ron I do not think a swf can be used for an avatar because there is no way to include the code to display it.

BTW I edited your last post to display the swf file.

    Ron,

Looks OK on my end when using IrFanView Version 4.00. See attached screen shot.

    What version are you using?

    Thanks everyone.
I mispoke. I was actually opening it in Flash 6. Now this is weird. When I selected "Open with" and selected Infranview...Infranview displayed it fine. But when I did select Flash 6 it displays it as shown in the screen shot below.??? No yellow foreground of the earth.

Most recent attempt. Apparently, my problem is with Flash. I've installed Flash 9.0, but version 6.0 r21 keeps running and does not show the swf properly. Infranview displays is just fine. I went to Macromedia flash website and followed instructions on uninstalling Flash, ran the uninstall program, which appeared to be successful; but on running flash the old 6.0 r21 version is still playing. I'm lost. Shouldn't the 9.0 version be running if I uninstalled the 6.0 r21 version?

    Ron,

You're really testing my abilities and versatility here! After opeining the glass globe file using various programs on my PC I found that I too had a problem with Macromedia Flash Player 7.0 r19 (MFP_7). Almost every program and browser that I used opened the file correctly using Adobe Flash Player 9.0 (AFP_9) but if I just double clicked on the SWF file it was opened using MFP_7 and did not display the yellow terrain. After multiple file searches on my hard drive, registry searches, file renames and registry deletions I still couldn't kill MFP_7. I then resorted to searching via Google and spent a lot of time on Adobe.com. Several runs of the v7, 8 & 9 uninstallers and AFP_9 installers did not fix the problem either.

I finally found the following link on Adobe's website:

After downloading the file and extracting just the FlashPlayer.exe file, I placed the new FlashPlayer.exe in the same folder where my Macromedia Plug-ins/Installer resides (C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash). Your location may be different. I'm fairly sure that the location doesn't actually matter too much. I then ran the new FlashPlayer without opening a file so Windows XP would at least have a clue it was there. I then closed the FlashPlayer application and went an found one of your glass_globe files. I alt-clicked on the glass_globe.swf file and told it to open using the now listed Adobe Flash Player 9.0 r124 and SHAZaaam! there it was in all of it's glory. Just so you know I'm not pulling your leg, see the image I've attached to this post.

If you go to open the file and AFP_9 is not listed, choose open using other application (or whatever it says) and direct it to wherever you placed the AFP_9 FlashPlayer.exe file.

Phew, I sure hope you can follow all that. I'm not sure I can, and I'm the one who did it!

    Good Luck,
    Harry

    Harry,
Thanks for all your help. I tried your suggestion without any hic ups, but this is what has happened:
"I've installed version 9 of Flash several times, each time I restarted my computer. Each time after rebooting I try to open a Flash file, Macromedia Flash does not open but I get the update reminder."
I've listed this as case #0180435029 with Adobe on their support website. I'll let you know when they reply.
    Thanks again.
