Thumbs to Big Pics on same page?

Hi all! Hope someone can help...

I want to create a menu/web page similar to this:
Ulead's thumbnail slider menu sample '3D Adventure' -
http://www.ulead.com/ma/samples.htm

Can anyone help me achieve this result without using Uleads menu applet? (Keep it simple though - I'm learning!)
I'm determined to do this: it's exactly what I want for my web site!

I've already posted this querie in other forums and someone suggested that DHTML/Flash or Swish may be the answer. Don't know too much about these but I'm willing to learn. There has to be a reasonably simple way of achieving this?

Any ideas folks?
