How does he do this?

I just wanted to created an effect like those to use on some pictures,all smooth,realistic and pretty.I read on one of his post(I forget what image though) he said that he did trace, so I thought mabe I could create something like this for me.

Click on this link, which will take you to a page of tutorials. Look for the video tutorial called Complex Fills (Advanced). It's near the top, just under the tutorials for the Absolute Beginner (highly recommended).

If you check that tutorial out. It will give you a few ideas on how to get a subtle texture such as you seem to want to make.
