    Default layer transparency

Is it possible to change the transparency of an individual layer, say make it
75 %. I don't think it possible but wondered if anyone had a clever method of achieving the same result.
I'm drawing some Manga style figures and have a number of layer which I would like to blend with different amounts of transparency as you might in PS.

Hide all layers except the one you want to add transparency. Make sure the layer is current then ctrl+A to select all, press F6 (Transparency tool) and then adjust the transparency slider on the tool bar.
    Un-hide other layers.

Thanks, I was sure there must be a way but couldn't see it
Also seems to work by locking the other layers and you get to
see the effect live, and use the blend type.

Though what sledger suggested doesn't have quite the same effect though; for example, if objects of the same color overlap, they will have individual transparencies and be 'less transparent' where they overlap, while with true layer transparency, they would be transparent as a whole.

Grouping the objects (CTRL-G) before applying the transparency will more accurately 'emulate' what you want.

Yes, but make certain you have 'Make groups be transparent as a whole' enabled in Options>>General

Hey Alex, you actually pointed out something useful to consider
It all depends on the transparency effect you (or the OP) desires.

Hi thanks for the advice. The effect I'm going for is faded or worn marker pens over solid black inkpen lines. I'm trying to mix Manga with Art Nouveau curves and style, the two genres seem to work well together. I will post some results if they are any good.

there might be a good reason for that if you look into the origins of art nouveau [and manga too]

look forward to seeing the results

IdotT: Just in case, have you tried the various brushes that come with Xtreme (and the dozens of other high-quality brushes that can be found here in the forums)? (Line gallery)
