    Thank you John,

Attached is the ~ same cropped image as the first one I posted here but without being focused ( sharpened) in IrfanView. That was the only retouching I did to that.

    Thanks Bob.

I was just wondering if xpro could do more or less with sharpening. Maybe with the original image. This is just a reduced size photo, so there is no more detail in the shot than what irfanview can grab.

Thanks for the attempt in XXPRO John,

The photo in my post #22 is at 100% but this cropping of the original image included more of the night sky. I did save it again as a jpg which cause more loss but is the same number of steps in the IrfanView "sharpened" picture.

Well we should be having a full moon in a couple days. Maybe the last one with decent weather in this neck of the woods. I think I might attempt another shot or so...

Cool... let's see who can get the best shot. Size doesn't matter, not everyone has a very large lens. We are going to be looking for clarity and detail only. Sound good to you guys?

I dont think I can compete with you John, was just interested in how good a shot I could get with the new point 'n' shoot. Just seems like a good test shot. But knowing me, I can mess it up quite easily.

Don't worry about it Bob. I have seen some mighty nice shots come out of point and shoots. If you have a tripod, it will make for a more stable shot. Also a timed delayed exposure (delay a bit then snap the shot makes for a clearer shot).

Don't use an autoexposure, this will set the exposure for the night sky and not the moon. A manual shot at about 1/100 to 1/500 is about the best. Take a few shots, changing the exposure to see which one looks the best.

If the full moon rises before the sun sets, you can also grab a shot even easier. One doesn't have to contend with the dark sky/bright moon.

The winner gets nothing but the knowledge they had a decent moon shot. practice tonight if you can see the moon...

The clouds starting moving in soon after moonrise. The drizzel had started, so there is no way I am going to set up for a really good moon shot tonight. So this is what I have. Handheld with a 300mm lens...

Bob, Keith... Where you able to grab anything in your neck of the woods?

Fiddled with it a bit in Xpro...
