Default Copying and Pasting Bevel Attributes

I'm working on a project where I'm trying to copy the bevel attributes from one object to another. I thought that "Paste Attributes" would do this, but apparently it doesn't include bevels -- with an exception. The help file states: "Most attributes can be copied this way, including shadows, feather values, fill styles, live effects, etc. However bevels can only be copied from one object to another if the object the bevel is copied to has already a bevel to apply the bevel attributes to."

So I created a temporary bevel on the destination object and tried the copy-paste attributes option and it still didn't paste the bevel attributes. Has anyone else been able to make this work? I suspect I'm doing something wrong.

I believe you may be clicking the object to select it rather than drawing a selection marquee 'around' the object so that the shape AND bevel are both selected.
Copy Attributes will work as stated then.
