    Default Bitmap image and Envelope

Sorry guys if it was already covered here -- quick search didn't give me an answer )

I need to apply Envelope to raster image. But the image is not distorting, and loosing its appearance (see sample).

Perspective mold is working fine. I don't remember any issues with Envelopes before...

What is it? Restriction? Bug? Any solution?
    I have Xara Pro 3.2.

    Alex

P.S. Raster image -- Chevy logo with transparent bg.

The Chevy logo is a bitmap and not a vector object.

The envelopes (except the straight sided perspective envelopes) do not work on bitmaps.

Maybe you could bitmap trace the logo and then apply an envelope?

    Thanks, Gary!

Will try to figure it out. Your confirmation that Envelopes can't be applied to the raster images is most important )

Not sure how useful this might be Alex, but you could try BrandsOfTheWorld for a suitable vector version?

    Steve,

Thanks, I use that website a lot. But they have raster inside for Chevy logo (they're accepting both vector and raster files for a long time).

No prob -- I just re-design it as vector in Xara ) -- see attached file.
Since this logo will be used at small size, I didn't realistic replication ).

But unfortunately, when I tried to distort Chevy logo (have to place it to the billiard ball), it looks ugly ))

Hmmm.. can't attach the file.. Will try later )

Hi Alex, yes it's a useful site alright

Not sure what you mean about a raster inside a vector. All those I looked at are vector only EPS.

Even though you have already redesigned your file, here's the first one I linked to which I opened in Xtreme4 then saved as .xar just for fun...

I had a go of blending it using shapes and then lines. The 2 line distortions create a greater contrast:

Most of them use the same technique for creating bitmap 'globes' or 'fish eye effect' using 2 identical bitmap filled shapes, greatly reducing the top 1 and blending from big to small and then twisting the top bitmap (not vector shape) handles.
