    I came across this effect by accident after looking at THIS THREAD

    Interesting effect Egg.

    It looks much smoother and faster once you've zoomed in (and no pixelisation).

    Cheers guys. Basically it just a moire pattern created by one shape moving over another. I just thought the effect was interesting.
