Hi Rich,

I don't have HDR on my camera, but it looks like it boosts the saturation, when the shots are under exposed. When they are good, it over saturates the shots. What is your explanation of this effect? What does the book say?

Making an HDRI is done by software. You need images at different EVs. Two minimum, but you can use more. The reds continue to be very strong compared to other colors. I don't know if it is unique to the program, or if it is common to all programs that combine the images. Rich

Try white balancing your camera with a 18% grey card. Just create a block that is filled with 18% C as in CMYK. Then place a + in the middle of it to focus on. run the white balance with this 18% card, then take bracket a still life. The reds shouldn't be too red...

For example this pic of Diane, was taken under flourescent lighting which is notoriously green.

The book says that with higher temperature light, you will get more blue. With lower temperature light, you will get more red. Maybe you get more low temperature red light in the morning because of the longer wave length.

That is true for daylight... I was taking about studio lighting, at least with Diane's pic. Daylight, is more of a bluish color because of the humidity. Try the grey card. It really works if you want to get the color tone just right.

Still reading. I changes the setting to a different temperature.

I installed PI in my old system. I believe it has HDR capability. I spent yesterday getting the system to work.

This was an HDRI using Akvis Enhancer. Three images.

I am trying PIXL. I have it on my old machine in the shed. Sure is slow in comparison. Not too much RAM.

Hmmm... I really don't care for the result myself... Looks artificially manipulated.
