I'm trying to open a PDF and it subsituting a different font. This happens even if I choose curves. This "font" is suppose to be custom. I thought by choosing curves it will open it up as a vector. I'm using X3. please help.

If there are any fonts in the PDF document, you will be promted for the correct one or a substitute, the option to open the document in curves will only apply if you have the font installed on your machine anyway.
Try and get hold of the font required, or match it as best as you can.

PDF's embed the fonts they use from the system the file was created on, hence making them "portable". To use the curves option, you need to have the font in question installed on your machine. This piece of software converts all text to curves from within the PDF, allowing you to import into your favourite vector program without any font errors.
