    Default tutorial request: isometric graphics

I was a heavy Corel Draw user about ten years ago, I have forgotten most stuff I knew back then so this is all a learning experience.

I design presentations as part of my job, and I have decided to develop a library of isometric graphics to be used in my companys presentations. I hereby request a tutorial on how to draw simple or semicomplex isometric symbols that work in most resolutions.

If somebody could record a video I would be very grateful.

    Thanks

    thanks!
I do have a problem with that tutorial though. The angles seem off compared to the isometric grid. is it a bug i XX or in the tutorial?

I'm not an expert on isometrics so my answer may be completely inaccurate.

There have been several members over the years, that have posted about the isometric grid within Xara not being a true isometric.

I believe John Clements wrote the tutorial to explain how to make a true isometric drawing without relying on the isometric grid.

whatever angles they are, they are not multiples of 30deg according to my isometric grid [grey lines] - so I reckon you are right Bill ....

The way that I do it is to download one of the many iso. graph sheets and there are many now where the output is PDF. Activate guide layer (Shift+ctrl+R) then drag a guide but not onto art board, then import the ISO grid PDF into your drawing area and then select snap to guides. This works for me for at the moment I am doing a lot of maps and medical drawings with my bosses nearly all want isometric style drawings. Hope this helps and you can get more at PrintablePaper.net
