Having bowed to public pressure, my avatar no longer spins.
However I was toying with the idea of making the lighting effects spin instead, as shown below.

If I had to choose, I'd take the spinning logo over the flashing lights every time.

But ............ Don't hurt me ........... I really don't have any problems with spinning logo's as long as they are well done and somewhat discrete (or as discrete as you can make something that spins).

And actually like ... YES, I said like ... animated (spinning or otherwise) avatars.

I must be getting old, I thought the purpose of a cell phone was to use as a telephone. Another thing I dislike is a cell phone. Sold my last one over 10 years ago and have been very happy since.
Come on, I have a Nokia N95 now, the celphone part is just the extra nowadays.
I can watch movies and series on it, use it a a gps and find all kind of
stuff in any city, and many many more goodies.(the bad part is
that batteries run out way to fast. )
But would I have bought one? No, I got it 'free' with my next 2 years
subscription of my cellphone provider.. If I had to buy it seperately, I wouldn`t have. But since I hardly phone, but I need it sometimes,
why not go for it when they give it away? Oh yeah and it is a pretty decent
camcorder, the quality of the movies is watchable.
(But I always keep my very old sony ericsson handy. Why?
Because the batteries last like a week on standbye. )

The only thing missing on my cellphone now is xara xtreme.
(and a lot of phonenumbers of very pretty girls. )

I fine that "spinning" or otherwise moving/contorting a logo as part of an intro can be tasteful, but when the "intro" is over, it needs to remain stationary.

It depends on the logo, however... I've had some clients request using spinning globes in their logos which can be done subtlely to great effect.

Thanks for the link, Juergen. That site has to be the finest example of
how it shouldn't be done. My word, it just so bad. .

    boo-hoo, that's a great site!
    Thanks for the link, Jürgen.

For our non-german friends: The site is not only ugly, but also full of spelling mistakes (ok, it's a fake site, but it's funny).
