Default Clip photo with wiggly shape

    Hi

I see how I can draw a wiggle shape and use the Clip button in the Photo tool to clip a photo.

But how do I unclip and restore the wiggly shape in order to edit it? When I press Unclip I just get a rectangle.

Sorry if I'm being stupid but even reading the manual seemed to confirm this behaviour.

You don't unclip, use the shape editor tool to edit your wiggly line. If you need to edit the content, edit it inside the constructed shape - you don't need to unclip.

Maybe I misundersand the question. If this isn't quite what you wanted, can you clarify what you need to do in the way of edits, and then we can go into further detail if necessary.

    While you could do it using Clipview as Drifter suggests, I think it's even easier to just use the normal photo clip feature. As SS suggests this way you can just use the Freehand or Shape Editor tools to adjust the outline of the clipped shape. So the steps to clip a photo are;
    - Draw wiggly shape on top of photo
    - Select both shape and photo, go into Photo tool, crop mode and press Clip

Now to adjust the photo inside the clip op into the Fill tool and you can drag, resize and rotate the photo inside the clip.

To adjust the wiggly clip shape, go into the Freehand tool and redraw along the edge, or into the Shape Editor tool and adjust the bezier control points as normal.

An Unclip will restore the original rectangular photo.

Thanks, Charles, I didn't realize we could adjust the rectangular clipped shape. Very cool!

My concern was that the Photo tool is slightly unintuitive, and different to the ClipView, because when you Unclip a photo you don't get back the original two objects.

Removing a ClipView gives you back the photo and the wiggly line but
Unclipping a photo gives you back the photo and a rectangle.

Thanks for the rest of the tips though folks :-)

I just tested this... An inadvertant plus... they have fixed the slice and dice problem with illustrator... You can cut out a tree in xpro and the slice will be the same as an ai... FAntastic...

Just tested it in PS... It works there too...

WE can finally cut a donut in xpro and have Adobe see the durn thing! Party Time!
