    Default Bug in extrusion+gradient color

    Hi,

When applying a gradient color to a shape it has some lines
alltough the line is set to none.(top picture)
I used it to make a gradient fill to a shape and have it exruded but now
    I get this(bottom picture)

    version 4.0.4966 April 14 2008

You have applied a Live Effect to the shape. I can't see the point, or reason for this doing this. It's trivially easy to create that graduated colour using the graduated colour fill tool. And obviously that's the way we'd recommend.

So it's not as serious as it looks - and we'd simply recommend not using that Live Effect, certainly not with Extrude. In fact I'm not sure how that Live Effect even got into the release.

    Thanks for the reply.

But in the first download version it DID work?
    See http://www.talkgraphics.com/showpost...88&postcount=1
    Why doesn't it anymore.
Not that i can't make my own gradients
But i like to SAVE them for later use, this way i have to make xar files out of it(which might get lost) or reproduce the gradient every time over and over.

Hans - gradients to alpha still seem to work reasonably well - but the others well.... something's wrong somewhere?

    Yes Steve,

But,like stated in first point of this thread, there are some lines visible when applying the gradient though i didn't apply a line?
this at least seems to be a bug

In my mini tut I used the same gradient(the gold one,it's premade by xara)
there it did work but in latest version it doesn't,uhmnnnnnn, very strange

Yes sorry Hans - I see the lines and I agree they are there when they shouldn't be

And that's not all that is wrong - the gradient on the right in my post - that should have been clipped to the circle and was before is not anymore

    Hello,

I'm the developer of the "color gradient" effect and want to correct it.
Still I have no idea which "lines" you mean. Could you please post an example of these "lines" which are there but should'nt be.

    Hi Gerd,

See my first post in this thread, the top picture is made with a standard gradient just applied to a shape.
As you can see the picture has lines(top, bottom, left side)
Though it isn't an applied line(see attached xar)

    Thanks haakoo,

I see! The thin black line around the box... First I thought these lines are inserted by the forum website for a better look.

This problem had the same cause as the bottom example and is fixed now.

Please wait for the the next patch.

    Gerd
