Strange Save behaviour

Hi,
I'm using Coreldraw 12 to design a number of info sheets. Each day for the past few weeks I add a few more pages and then save and close. (Have since realised I should have been doing it in Indesign!) Today I opened the file to find that for some reason the past two days work wasn't there and that both the file and the auto-back up file had reverted to work I had done two days ago!
Anyone have any clues as to why this happened and if there's any way to get that work back?

Is it possible they have been accidentally saved to a different name/place?

I would do a system file search to check

If you use Open Recent of your file do you get your file or the empty file?

Did Corel crash while saving your file?
