Default cool new(?) xara / scribus trick !

+ yesterday, I tried the teenpup-2008 distro, which includes
XaraLX builtin... nice ! They have done a terrific job with
teenpup... it is fast... well put together... and - I found the
    following, as suggested in title...
...teenpup-2008 also includes a version of Scribus which
is now fixed to allow direct import of PostScript files, which
XaraLX has long been capable of producing... hopefully, my
point is now made... we can now plunk our nice XaraLX graphics
directly_ after PS export_ into a PDFable document, with no
other conversion... I'll wait while you pick yourself up off the floor.

    OK then(!).

While I have seen this somewhere before, and possibly even
reported such in this forum, for some reason this seemed important
to me, respecting the evolution of XaraLX as a more effective
graphics tool. No... it isnt direct export of SVG... but of course
PostScript is the original scalable format. It is also possible to
convert PS -to- SVG... something Id been doing prior to finding
    this cool new teenpup-2008.

Again, please forgive my stumbling on this topic... its one I have
followed and commented or asked about since starting to use Xara
    for Linux.

could you give a more detailed description of the process. then I will make a video of it even if I have install puppy linux in a virtual machine to do it.

What version of XaraLX and Scribus is puppy using ?

    howdy Dai !

OK - "the process" as Ive tried to describe it, consists simply of exporting
your XaraLX graphic via print to PS, then, direct import into a Scribus document, via the now working EPS/PS import function.

_but, there are a few things I should clarify... firstly, while teenpup-2008 is
based on puppy linux, they are not the same ("teenpup-2008" is the actual name of this live-CD application).

regarding versions_ I did happen to notice that teenpup-2008 uses a XaraLX with the familiar version 7 splash screen... in other words, it seems they've used the last stable XaraLX release.
Scribus, not sure, but, their Scribus does have a "teenpup" designation added in that splash screen... my feeling is that some custom modifications have been made - which I say, because, I have both XaraLX and Scribus at home in my debian (sarge) install, with which direct import of PS files to Scribus from XaraLX specifically -does not work- ...this is why I am so excited to see this fixed in teenpup-2008 ! (my guess is that its an improvement to Scribus, as PS output from XaraLX has been working for a long time).

here is a link to teenpup-2008 file... a free download:

    http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Syste...up-31563.shtml

hope this is of some help to you or other XaraLX users.

NOTE: I have not checked to see if this functionality is also fixed in debian (after sarge), or, any other more recent linux distributions... so, I may be blowing hot air for the most part... still, it's an enormous boon to me not having to convert the postscript output to anything in order to produce a
    scalable PDF document in Scribus.

NOTE-2: this is still a long way from the very direct output of both SVGs
and PDFs from the commercial versions of Xara... but... this is as compact
an alternative, for Linux, as Ive seen.

I've downloaded TeenPup but I'm having difficulty istalling it in VirtualBox it keeps hanging on Xorg/vesa screen in the setup. maybe I should run the md5 checksum to make sure I don't have a faulty download.
