    Default little upset about CMYK

It great that xara can export CMYK and Pantone colors but
anytime you import a tif that has a color profile it is immediately turned back into RGB?
Why is that? Why make export work but import does not?

xara natively works in RGB... it does not do CMYK internally... so it is only right and proper to convert to RGB...

Personally.. I will suffer with RBG, for speed... if I can get a CMYK output...

RGB is the native colour space for monitors. Adobe and Corel programs work internally with RGB.

This is correct. CMYK and PANTONE are used for output colours for colour matching mostly in the print industry.

Xara has a CMYK emulation mode to visually simulate how your output will look when 'printed' using the CMYK colour model.

RGB is the colour space mixing system for 'light' (monitors, scanners etc)

thank you guys, although photoshop simulates cmyk colors on screen, yet if I was to compare the colors I see in xara using simulate print colors with photoshop cmyk mode is totally different even if they use the same color profile.

I tend to trust what I see in photoshop more than xara and that is why I was a little annoyed at xara.

Even pdf exports from xara are not the same colors compared to adobe pdf exports used at the same settings and same color profile.

Have you tried the commercial print setting? There is a noticed color shift in that mode compared to the other PDF modes. Have not done a color by color comparsion tho... Try it you might like it...
