    Default Red Staggerwing

I was making a cd sampler for the son of an old friend of mine,
his father and I have been buddies for 35 years now.
He likes to encourage his son to listen to music, and his wife thinks
that it is the devil's work. She may be right, it's said that the devil
has all the best tunes. I suppose some might frown on my doing this,
but I don't do it for financial gain and I know from past experience that
it encourages people to actually go out and buy stuff that they would
probably never otherwise have heard. I'm a frustrated DJ I suppose.
Anyway, I digress before I've even started. The cd required a cover,
and I usually take a track title or a snatch of lyric from one of the songs
and use that to illustrate the cd.
In this particular case it was "Red Staggerwing" from the album
"All The Roadrunning" by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. I had to do a
google search to find out what a staggerwing was, and found that the
Beech Staggerwing was so named because the alignment of the upper and
lower wings is the reverse of that normally found in biplanes.
The lower wing is the leading wing, and this configuration allows the
wheels to be retractable, apparently. This then means better performance.
The wireframe may be found in the March Stop and Post thread.
I also enclose the track listing for anyone who might be interested:
    01. Moondog - Lament 1 [Bird's Lament].
    02. Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - Red Staggerwing
    03. Clarence Edwards - Done Got Over It
    04. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Killing The Blues
    05. Barry Adamson - Come Hell Or High Water
    06. Deitra Farr - Bad Company
    07. Donald Fagen - What I Do
    08. Brian Eno - Ali Click [Grid Master Edit]
    09. John Fahey - How Long
    10. Naha Salec - A Pesar De Las Heridas
    11. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Please Read The Letter
    12. Robert Wyatt - Solar Flares
    13. June Tabor - Finisterre
    14. Santana - Song Of The Wind
    15. UB40 - Silent Witness
    16. Charles Mingus - Fables Of Faubus
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Nice job on the staggerwing Bob. They were a very distinctive aircraft even to this day.
