    Default Digital Watercolour...

I attach some images of a digital watercolour I made yesterday. One shows the overall effect while the second is zoomed in to show the detail. The building is a cottage design associated with my work -- I work for an Architectural firm called N46 located here on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

I started by producing a detailed 3d model using SketchUp. When I was happy with the amount of detail I setup my view and then did three jpg exports from SketchUp. One was just the colours (no edges or shadows). Another was just the shadows, and the third was the edges only. The shadows and edges both utilize SketchUp 'Styles' I developed that are distributed by FormFonts - when applied to the model they give a particular 'style'. I then took those three images into Xara Xtreme Pro and manipulated and coerced them into being a digital watercolour.

Here's an older thread with more info on the digital watercolour technique I use.

    Regards, Ross

And nicely drawn too Ross, I think when it comes your type of art you are top of the tree on the forum.

Ross, that's an uncanny resemblance to a typical architect watercolor... especially in the landscape... excellent job.
I really like that cottage too... nice design, very "homey" feeling. I think it's the wrap around porch I like the most.

Missing your posts too. I´m a little sick of sintetic 3d renderings for architecture work. Looks all the same, lacking expression.
    Nice work

Great stuff Ross. Would look nice on U46 website. So where did the name U46 come from?
