How do I create round cornered rectangles as shapes? Is any option available, where you can control the corner radius like in Flash and Illustrator?
Kind regards Mikael

should be a shape attributes dialog button on the shape tool bar - which may be what you are looking for?
set a stroke - at a suitable width - as well as the rounded corner option

Dear steve j
Thanks for your reply. I can get along nicely with your suggestion yet the procedure I'm looking for, is comparable to the "Rounded Rectangle Tool" you'll find in the Photoshop toolbox. Here's the possibility for typing a specific corner radius (in pixels) in the properties box.
The procedure you line out in Painter is more targeted the very outline of the shape - not the shape body in itself.
Kind regards from Mikael
ok - painter doesn't have that specific tool - sorry

Hi Mikael,
In Painter X select the Rectangular Tool. Open the Shape Attributes Dialog. See attachment.

Oh, I see that the dialog does not work as I thought it would.
I'm just starting with Painter. It seems that the tools are not as intuitive as I am accustomed to in Xara applications

I wish you well Bill - painter is a very very complex piece of software - I only know the bits of it I need to - say 20% max
Jinny's links are very helpful - as indeed is Jinny

Thanks to all for your kind contributes. Im fine with the notion that I dont have to search Painter interface for this feature in vain anymore.
The workaround in this case must be drawing the shape in ie. Adobe Illustrator and copy/paste it into Painter (if you want to keep the object as and editable shape - with round corners). Remember to switch on the AICB option in Filehandling/Clip board in Illustrators preferences.

I find it really difficult to accept that to do something as simple as a rectangle with round corners in such an expensive software, means cutting and pasting from another package.
If such a simple concept is so difficult, I would be tempted to garbage the whole thing.
