    Default Layers won't keep modes

I'm not sure I stated the topic that clearly, but here's the details: I have multiple layers; I choose different modes or effects from the drop down menu on the layers palette, such as gel or normal; I save the file; I reopen the file and all layers are set to darken. I've trashed the prefs, and for another fix I trashed the Painter Script data file, but nothing has affected the layer selection.

What are you saving as - if it is PSD the layer modes may not be correct - you need to save as a RIF file to preserve all of the Painter information.

But would it automatically change everything to the Darken mode? I don't recall having this happen before. And it does seem that, for compatibility, the people at Corel would have worked this out. Or not?
