Could be useful. Pity XX/P cannot open SVG and ODJ (OpenOffice). The other formats are all raster by the looks.

Yes I tried the svg -> Inkscape -> PDF route earlier, but wasn't a great result with Canon dSLR clipart

lot of difference between the [stable]0.45 inkscape and the [development]0.46 current build [cairo pdf]

Yep - 0.46 has done a much better job for sure. Still a little difference, but not difficult to correct.
I don't have that portable version of I.S though. Would you have the direct link handy?
